As an English graduate with a strong background in Psychology I'm an effective story-teller with a refined understanding of how best to engage a target audience. I've worked within a range of roles as a Freelancer, primarily editing and creating Health and Technology content. My Freelance work meant creating engaging yet accurate material within an extremely fast-paced working environment. I currently write for my own digital magazine, The Electric Patient, delivering accessible MedTech information to the public. Writing my own magazine has meant developing my knowledge of HTML and SEO autonomously. Having to copy-edit my own articles has also led me to be particularly scrupulous and efficient as a writer. I’m a strong believer in professional development and have personally researched and familiarised myself with GPP3, as well as ABPI’s code of practice and am currently auditing a Harvard Online Course on the pharmaceutical industry and marketing. I also currently volunteer with the British Islamic Medical Association as a copywriter, working alongside a range of physicians and team leaders to deliver effective, accurate and appropriate content.

Throughout my study I have maintained an interest in historical medical/scientific literature. I've written on Early Modern conceptions of melancholy/depression, 18th century French robotics as well as the medical field of the Renaissance. Dissertation topic: Electrotherapy, the Working Class and Lead Poisoning. Awarded: 1st Motivated by an interest in Victorian industrialism and the potential of a technological surge affecting the medical field, I analysed the experimental treatment of electrotherapy for lead poisoning (of which frequently afflicted the working class). I focused on tracing the effectiveness of electrotherapy through both hospital reports and literary accounts, aiming to decipher the ethicality behind such an experimental and controversial treatment; as well as discover what eventually incited occupational reform and how this happened.
