I am a keen linguist, coming up to finishing my degree in English Language and Linguistics. I find it fascinating how words (which we don't think about most of the time) have such a profound impact on people and shape the way we think. I'd love to be in roles where I can be creative with words and appeal to individual target audiences etc. I have a keen passion for travelling, and would love the opportunity to work abroad at some point in my life - travel journalism is something I think I would be well suited to. I have done much travelling in my life, including a gap year in Cape Town, South Africa. I am a dedicated and committed individual and throw myself into any opportunities I am given. I believe that I bring a lot to the table and work well with people.

I am a dedicated and passionate person, with a keenness to get stuck in and become a valuable part of the team. My degree has given me an excellent depth and breadth of knowledge in English Language and Linguistics, which equips me perfectly in marketing/fundraising roles. I've also done a large amount of volunteering, including a 3-month internship with a charity as their Marketing and Communications Intern. Through this, I gained experience using a buffer, canva, Mailchimp and Squarespace, as well as attending a Digital Marketing conference. I have been working on an ad hoc basis for a small marketing business for the duration of my degree, writing press releases, proof reading copy etc. This has given me a good skill set and makes me an experienced graduate.

My studies in English Language and Linguistics have been thoroughly enjoyable and are very transferable to different lines of work. I have covered modules ranging from phraseology, to sociolinguistics, to research methods and English grammar, and have gained an excellent writing ability. I am currently working towards achieving either a First or an Upper Second Class degree, which I believe demonstrates my commitment to succeeding at the things I commit myself to.

Kids Club Kampala are a charity which work in the slums of Kampala, Uganda, helping vulnerable people to survive and thrive. What began as a small charity running kids clubs for children, now has multiple different projects. These include women's initiatives (free courses where women can learn tailoring, sewing etc, to be able to earn their own money), Ewafe (a children's home which takes in vulnerable children and aims to rehabilitate them with safe family members), and many more. I worked in the marketing and communications department, supporting the Fundraising Manager with social media, newsletters, blog posts etc.
